At Vale da Murta, a hamlet in the Serres of the Algarve, southern Portugal, this tiny wayside shrine stands at the junction of a mountain track where it meets the road between Tavira and Cachopo.

Further on is the holy well at Relragen de Baixo, while the holy well at Corte de Garcia is beside the N270 near Tavira.

The minute figures of the madonna are richly adorned, as are those at Cabanas.
