The Trippet Stones
The Trippet Stones are the best-preserved of the two stone circles. These granite menhirs are covered with bright golden lichens. Dozmary Pool, where King Arthur's legendary sword Excalibur is said to be hidden, is closeby. So also is the Templar chapel at Temple and the Cheesewring and Hurlers stone circles where the St Michael alignment passes Upton Cross. Further west, the Nine Maidens stone row between St Columb and Wadebridge stand beside the A39 near St Issey and the Royal Cornwall Show ground.
