Sunset

Sunset

Rame Head guards the entrance to Plymouth Sound, where the estuary of the river Tamar forms the boundary between Devon and Cornwall on the SW coast of England.

Access to the Head is by the coastal path. This passes through woodlands which in Spring are carpeted with bluebells at Penlee. There is an Iron Age hill fort on the peninsula as well as the remains of a medieval chapel.

The far-reaching views out to the English Channel are most atmospheric and spectacular at sunset.

Sunset is a powerful liminal time - as day fades to night the telluric energies of Earth and Sky become more powerful, as demonstrated by the Dragon Project experiments at megalithic sites and other places of power throughout the UK, and described by Paul Devereux in the book Places of Power.

This is particularly so when all four elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water combine to manifest a sunset over the Western Ocean...
