The medieval village of Roque Gageac clings to the cliff face above the river Dordogne in the Périgord, SW France.

Nearby are many other medieval towns and villages, such as Beynac, Sarlat, and Les Eyzies, and the holy wells at Redon Espic and Fonpeyrine.

Further upstream Montfort - a place of power - and Souillac, a staging point on the Way of St James - le Chemin St Jacques
