The Old Straight Track
The Classic Book on Ley Lines

Alfred Watkins

This is the classic study of the ancient tracks or "leys" that traverse Britain. Indeed the term coined the term 'ley lines' was coined by the author.

Many of the sites discussed are in Alfred Watkins home county of Herefordshire, though the principles discussed are valid throughout Britain.

Alfred Watkins noticed that ancient sacred monuments built on pagan sites (Tumuli, sunken roads, ancient fortified sites and stone circles) throughout the Britain occurred in straight lines.

The chapters concerning the origin of words, place-names and surnames are particularly intriguing.

An inspiring book.
