Ways
Sacred ways / leys are said to have been first made by the feet of angels. Legends of secret underground tunnels linking ancient sites are
a folk memory of them.
As noted by Alfred Watkins in The Old Straight Track, these are frequently straight alignments of notable features of the landscape and
sacred sites. It is said to be unlucky to obstruct such spirit paths.
